Its hypermobility (EDS) awareness months and its only fitting to write another blog on the topic. Especially being a bendy person myself with some of the symptoms many of us get.

I class myself as lucky, I don't have a severe form, at least I don't think so when I see others greatly affected by this disorder.

Living with Hypermobility? You're Not Alone.

Hypermobility Awareness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about joint hypermobility syndromes, including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD).

If you or someone you love experiences chronic joint pain, frequent injuries, or unusual flexibility, you might be living with a hypermobility-related condition. And if you're looking for hypermobility treatment in Cardiff, know that you're in the right place—chiropractic care can be a vital part of your support system.

What Is Hypermobility?

Joint hypermobility refers to the ability to move joints beyond the normal range. For some, it’s harmless. But for others, it can be a sign of a more complex condition—especially when it causes pain, instability, fatigue, or systemic symptoms.

Common symptoms include:

-Frequent joint sprains or dislocations

-Chronic muscle and joint pain

-Poor posture or coordination

-Dizziness or fainting (POTS/dysautonomia)

-Digestive issues (IBS, reflux)

-Fatigue and anxiety

In severe cases, these symptoms may indicate Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD).

Why Hypermobility Awareness Matters?

Awareness saves time and suffering. People with hypermobility are often told their symptoms are "in their head," or that they're just “double-jointed.” But for those living with daily pain or injuries, the reality is far more serious.

This month, clinics, charities, and healthcare providers across the UK—including here in Cardiff—are working together to:

-Educate the public about hypermobility and related conditions

-Encourage early diagnosis and treatment

-Provide support and resources for patients

-Reduce stigma around invisible illnesses

At our Cardiff chiropractic clinic, we see many patients who have struggled to find answers. Our goal is to provide compassionate, personalised care that helps you feel seen—and supported.

Creating individualised rehab plans to build muscle support.

Coordinating with other healthcare professionals like physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
